Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to visit some tourist spots in Jaipur on January 25 before flying to Delhi. Macron is the chief guest for the Republic Day parade on January 26.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron are slated to visit Jaipur on January 25.Macron is set to visit India on a two-day tour, and he will be the chief guest for this year’s Republic Day parade.
PM Modi and Macron are expected to visit the 16th century Amer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, following which both leaders walk on foot to Tripolia Gate and see the city.
The two leaders will then head to Rambagh Hotel, after which they will leave for Delhi in the evening. A roadshow between PM Modi and Macron in Jaipur is also planned.
A bilateral meeting is likely between the two leaders where major announcements are expected in the defence and strategic sectors.
Invitation to Macron for the Republic Day celelbration came amid a rapid upswing in ties between the two countries, including in the areas of defence and security, clean energy, trade and investment and new technologies.
Macron will be travelling with a delegation comprising several ministers, CEOs, personalities from the cultural and scientific sectors.
India and France also expressed commitment to cooperate in the co-development and co-production of advanced defence technologies, including for the benefit of third countries.
In July last year, PM Modi was the guest of honour for the Bastille Day (French National Day) parade in Paris.
