The jawan, identified as constable Chetan Kumar, fired from his automatic weapon, killing another RPF jawan, ASI Tika Ram. According to the police, Kumar initially held passengers at gunpoint after shooting Ram. Later, three civilians were also shot dead by him.
The families of the deceased persons are being contacted and the ex-gratia amount will be given to them. The incident took place between Vapi and Palghar station,” an RPF official said.
Kumar allegedly tried to flee after pulling the alarm chain and getting down near Dahisar, police said. They added that he was arrested by the RPF at Bhayandar. The train, bound for Mumbai from Jaipur, reached Borivali station, and the injured have been taken to Shatabdi Hospital. Senior officials are on their way to the site.
